Quality of life

Adverse effects on quality of life

Constipation can affect physical well-being, vitality and social aspects of life, as well as emotional and mental health. In a review, the impact of constipation on quality of life in adults and children in 13 studies was evaluated; both mental and physical aspects of quality of life were found to be consistently impaired. [Belsley 2010]

Given the high prevalence of constipation among both children and adults, improved management could potentially improve quality of life for many people. [Belsley 2010]
